Dream of Isa walking on water

A Muslim brother or sister has had the following dream

"Salaam this is a question regarding a dream my mother had. she dreamt that she was looking out a window & saw isa walking on water towards her, she just had a feeling it was him. he came into the house and fell on a bed as if he was in pain and wanted someone to massage hi).m. what could this mean? she has previously also dreamt about the prophet muhammad (saw)."

The dream's meaning is fairly straightforward.

The dreamer has had seen an event described in the Bible. This would become particularly interesting to them if they did not know this - but it certainly would not be unusual. Many Muslims are having these sorts of dreams these days. In any case, Jesus walking on water is described in three out of the four books of the Injil: In Matthew 14, Mark 6 and John 6. Here is an excerpt from John 6:

John 6:16-24

16 When evening came, his disciples went down to the lake, 17 where they got into a boat and set off across the lake for Capernaum. By now it was dark, and Jesus had not yet joined them. 18 A strong wind was blowing and the waters grew rough. 19 When they had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus approaching the boat, walking on the water; and they were frightened. 20 But he said to them, “It is I; don’t be afraid.” 21 Then they were willing to take him into the boat, and immediately the boat reached the shore where they were heading. 22 The next day the crowd that had stayed on the opposite shore of the lake realized that only one boat had been there, and that Jesus had not entered it with his disciples, but that they had gone away alone. 23 Then some boats from Tiberias landed near the place where the people had eaten the bread after the Lord had given thanks. 24 Once the crowd realized that neither Jesus nor his disciples were there, they got into the boats and went to Capernaum in search of Jesus.

The fact that Jesus has not specifically identified himself verbally but the dreamer simply knows it's him is extremely common in the Muslim dream of Jesus. Many others have had this experience. Of course, in the West it is axiomatic that a reference to someone walking on the water is a reference to Jesus.  In any case, the fact that he is walking on water is a clue to help the dreamer trust that the dream is from God. They can cross-reference the dream to the Biblical accounts of Jesus' life very easily.

Now, onto the more interesting part. What does it mean that Jesus is in pain. Jesus suffering is actually a Biblical motif, both in the prophets that predicted Jesus coming and in the descriptions in the Injil of Jesus' life. Isaiah prophesied that Jesus would be "despised, rejected-a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief" 700 years before Jesus was born in the 53rd chapter of his writings. Jesus' suffering in the Bible is always a suffering for us. The reason that he was crucified was so that he could accept the punishment for our sins on our behalf so that we would be able to have his righteousness before God the Father. In other words, he acted as a substitute sacrifice. On Eid al Adza, the substitution of a ram for the sacrifice of Ibrahim's son is celebrated. Isa is that substitution. This is why Yehyah refers to Isa as "The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world."

If the description of Isa suffering in this dream is to be cross-referenced to the scripture, Isa is suffering for your sin, my sister.

In the Name of Isa al Massih, the Name above all Names.
